BPA Named Eastern Circuit Regional Training
Center
Awarded a $20,000 US Polo Association PDI Grant
for 2009
BPA has been named the Eastern Circuit Regional Training
Center for the US Polo Association.
BPA has submitted a detailed proposal defining the goals, training activities,
resource plan and support required to achieve RTC level during 2009.
The USPA has endorsed this plan plus provided additional support through
the awarding of a $20,000 Polo Development Initiative Grant.
This is one of five such grants awarded nationwide.
The specific 2009 growth initiatives planned for BPA to
achieve RTC status include:
1.
Maintain interscholastic program at 20 players
and participation opportunities at 4 times per week.
2.
Add an additional weekly session (Sunday pm) of
adult arena chukka’s and increase playing members from 12 to 20.
3.
Add an additional weekly session (Saturday am) to
our group Introduction to Polo lessons and increase adult summer participation
from 35 to 75 persons.
4.
Offer playing opportunities and horses for hire
for up to 6 players to participate in outdoor practice chukka’s with the
Brandywine Polo Club.
5.
Offer six multi-day clinics targeted at
interscholastic and adult players within the Eastern Region.
6.
Upgrade arena for improved spectator viewing and
player access.
These programs will require a significant increase in
resources for the 2009 including increasing the BPA horse string from 16-28
horses (or two full playing strings), adding professional stable management and
increasing our complement of instructors beyond the availability of volunteers.
We look forward to implementing our 2009 growth initiatives
and thank the USPA for its endorsement and support!
