East Coast Juniors Arena Tournament
@Brandywine Polo Club
Friday, July 23 to
Sunday July 25, 2010
Overview
Brandywine Polo
Academy (BPA) is hosting its fifth East Coast Juniors Arena Tournament (ECAT) at
Brandywine Polo Club July 23th-July 25th. The purpose is
to bring together a diverse group of interscholastic players to participate in
organized tournament polo in a learning environment. The tournament is open to
all interscholastic players including those that graduated high school in 2010.
Running concurrent with the tournament will be a lecture series on Equine
care and a series of PTF sponsored workshops focusing on rules, hitting
technique and game strategy.
The all inclusive
charge for the three-day clinic and tournament is $175 per player.
Interested participants are encouraged to bring their own horses.
A limited number of horses are available for players who can not bring
horses. Stabling is available at
Brandywine Polo Club. Accommodation is available locally, however; we encourage
all players to camp out with the group. Players are encouraged to register soon
as entries and horse availability is limited. The
entry cut-off date is June 14, 2010.
Tournament selections will be made and communicated by Monday June 28,
2010.

Entry Information
Team entries will not be accepted. Qualified
players enter as individuals and will be allocated to tournament brackets (e.g.
beginner, intermediate, advanced) based on ability.
Teams will the be randomly drawn within each bracket.
Leagues will be played within each bracket to determine the winning team.
Games will be 2 or 3 chukka’s depending upon horse availability.
To qualify a player must:
i) Currently be attending middle or high school or graduated from high school in
the spring of 2010
ii) Possess good riding skills-all levels of polo skills welcome
iii) Be a student or full member of the USPA
iv) Provide proof of medical insurance coverage and sign a release in favor of
BPC/BPA.
v) Be accompanied by an adult.
Horses
We encourage all players to bring horses as the key to a successful tournament
is horsepower. To the extent
players do not have horses we will make every attempt to accommodate them with
loaner horses. We are able to
offer this because of the goodwill of others in the tournament and the local
polo community at Brandywine.
However, this resource is not limitless.
If players have extra horses that would be suitable for the tournament
please consider bringing them for others to use.
The tournament depends upon the horses.
For players bringing horses please make sure your vaccinations and coggins are
up to date. BPA will provide
stabling, bedding and hay. Players
should bring grain and any special feed supplements, buckets, etc.
Players bringing their own horses will be riding their own horses.
